Summary
This paper proposes an application of H-bridge voltage source inverter topology with
proportional integral controller in a photovoltaic power conditioning system. A very crucial part of power
conditioning system (PCS) for energy sustainability is photovoltaic (PV) dc/ac converter. The H-bridge dc/ac
converter is provided to regulate the constant output voltage under various operating conditions of photovoltaic
cell. The power rating of power switch (MOSFET) for dc/ac converter is selected on the basis of photovoltaic
cell's maximum output power. PV power conditioning system should have high efficiency under different
irradiance values to satisfy the system operating conditions. An H-bridge converter topology is proposed to
satisfy PV PCS conditions with inclusion of feedback system. The performance of the system was studied through
simulation in MATLAB/SIMULINK/simpowersystems. As a result of the feedback system, a constant output
power of 780 Watts, constant load voltage of 280 V, high efficiency value of 99.49 % were achieved with low
total harmonic distortion (THD) value of 0.97 % obtained.
